Independence Bank, for the 15th year, has landed among the 2023 Best Places to Work in Kentucky list. As the highest ranking Bank among all divisions, this second place spot is an improvement of two positions since last year.

The Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, Kentucky Society for Human Resource Management and ClearPath Mutual Insurance Company recognized 100 total companies at the 19th annual event at a celebratory ceremony in Lexington on June 8th.

“We continue to explore unique ways to make our Bank an exemplary place of employment,” Simone Montaven, Independence Bank Director of Human Resources, shared. “Here at IB we value the whole person, not just job performance. This is why we offer a number of atypical benefits, including a no-cost comprehensive behavioral wellness program for all employees and dependents, pet insurance, paid leave and more. In addition to the ever-growing catalog of bank training, employees now have access to expanded personal and professional development offering including internal and external professional coaching.”

The selection process, managed by the Workforce Research Group, bases results on an assessment of the company’s employee policies and procedures, paired with the responses of an anonymous internal employee survey. Independence Bank competes in the medium division, which includes other organizations ranging from 150-499 employees.

“There are so many metrics in our financial industry sector that can be considered measurements of success,” Independence Bank President Jacob Reid explained. “But, perhaps, the most pivotal achievement is finding people who are passionately fueled by purpose in their positions. It is a privilege to collaborate alongside them in ways that are fair to our customers and communities. We create an environment that allows everyone to excel— regardless of their role.”

Annual Bank attractions include a Christmas party that is renowned for its elaborate giveaways and impressive musical guests. The Bank’s employees and directors gather, along with their guests, for the themed function, a four-course meal and plenty of fun. The Bank family also gets together each year for a family picnic in the fall—one of the longest standing Bank traditions. It dates back to when the Reid family once invited all Bank employees to their home. As the financial institution has grown, the time of fellowship and food has moved to a local park where employees enjoy each other’s company and amusing games for all attending.
