Congratulations to Jimmy Dan Hicks who received the 2023 Breakfast on the Farm ‘Friend of Agriculture’ award!

Jimmy Dan Hicks has thirty years of banking experience with an emphasis in agricultural lending. He began his career with Farm Service Agency after graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture Business and Economics from Murray State University.

“Through hard work and dedication to the agricultural sector, Jimmy Dan has become a well-respected banker across the region,” Independence Bank President Heidi Shultz shared. “His career has included bank leadership roles in Clinton and Murray. For the last seven years, he has served as the senior lender at Independence Bank —which is the largest agriculture lender in Kentucky.”

Jimmy Dan’s portfolio includes dozens of agriculture relationships spanning multiple regional counties. These farming operations include: row crop, tobacco, beef, poultry and swine production. His customer service focus allows him to establish long-term relationships with his customers.

“Mr. Hicks embodies servant leadership as exhibited by his civic and volunteer efforts in his community and in the agricultural industry,” Shultz added.

He has served as the chair of the Murray Calloway Economic Development Corporation while also serving on the Kentucky State FFA Foundation Board. He has been a featured guest speaker in MSU’s Agriculture Finance class, volunteered for various FFA events and serves on the Calloway County School’s Local Facilities Planning Committee.
